"Hello. You've reached Celia Connors. I'm not available to take your call. Please leave a message after the beep."

Specify: Text | Network | Voice | Snail Mail | Video
anewreturner: (The sweetest girl.)
Name: Celia Connors : Anew Returner
Age: 24
Appearance: Celia's hair is a light brown instead of lavender; her eyes are brown instead of red. She also wears a pair of thin-rimmed reading glasses. Otherwise, her appearance remains the same.
Occupation: Engineer at Prometheus

Full Application: Here

Echoes Received:
1st Echo- Celia's first Echo is her memory of meeting the crew of the Ptolemaios II for the very first time. Not only does she know her name from her past life, but she also knows where, exactly, she excelled. Celia receives this memory after watching the bright pink light in Vegas on the news.
2nd Echo- While watching the alien broadcast, Anew's Celestial Being uniform was returned to her.
3rd Echo- After Reagen mentions Veda, Celia remembers what Veda is.
4th Echo- When Eugen mentions Gundam, Celia remembers what a Gundam is.
5th Echo- While speaking to Lyle Dylandy in a bar, she tells him to just call her Celia. That triggers a memory of her approaching him to ask what he's doing while the Ptolemaios is under repairs. Notably, she tells him to call her Anew, instead of Miss Returner.

Notes: None!
anewreturner: (My only weakness is...)
It is a beautiful day in Locke City, the sort of day that seemed to encourage truancy among Locke City's university students. It was no doubt the reason for the excessive number of absences in Celia's morning classes. Students were sunbathing on campus grounds, stretched out on long beach towels on green, grassy patches. It was only April, but the distinct smell of sunscreen permeated the air. It reminded Celia of summer.

There was so much to look forward to in the summer months. Though many of her peers were excited for their three months of freedom, Celia's excitement stemmed from her upcoming summer internship at Prometheus. Typically, they only accepted applications from juniors and seniors. However, a professor's recommendation had landed Celia's application among the others. Someone had apparently taken notice, as a week ago, she received notice that she had been accepted into the program.

Celia had rationalized this as being a product of her own hard work. Where others slacked off, she was diligent. It was part of the reason why she was meeting with her study partner in the quiet section of the university quad, instead of basking in the afternoon sun.

Eugen is already there when she arrives, as he always is. And she sets her bag down in one of the empty seats, as she always does. "Hello," she says, smiling down at the other brunette. "How were morning classes?"

She begins to tug her belongings out of her bag. First, her tablet-PC hybrid, then a notebook and pen, all set down in their rightful place in front of her seat. Then abruptly, without warning, she places a can and a bottle in front of Eugen; one is canned coffee, the other, apple juice.

"I wasn't sure which one you'd like," she says, clasping her hands behind her back. "So I decided I'd give you first choice."

She doesn't wait to watch him make his selection; instead, she reaches into her bag to retrieve something else.

IC Information:
Name: Anew Returner, reincarnated as Celia Connors
Canon and Medium: Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Anime
Age: Unknown (Preincarnated), 24 (Reincarnated)
Preincarnation Species: Innovade (Intelligence Type)
Preincarnation Appearance: Here
Any Differences: Celia's hair is a light brown instead of lavender; her eyes are brown instead of red. She also wears a pair of thin-rimmed reading glasses. Otherwise, her appearance remains the same.
Starting Location: Locke City, NJ, USA
Preincarnated History: Anew's history is not a very long one, as her existance (much like her Innovade kin) has been brief. Like most of the other Innovades, Anew was genetically engineered sometime in the past four years and aged rapidly in an incubation chamber. All of her memories, personality, and skills were programmed using the supercomputer Veda. Unlike her Innovade brethren, Anew was created with a specific purpose: to spy on the paramilitary group, Celestial Being. After all of her memories of her life as an Innovade were erased, she was entrusted to Wang Liu Mei, whose recommendation earned her a position among Celestial Being in research and development. Anew was later recruited to work aboard the Ptolemaios II, where her skills in mobile suit engineering, astrophysics, piloting, and regenerative medicine were put to use on the frontlines of the battle.

Anew fought alongside the Ptolemaios II crew for months, never quite finding her place among the already tight-knit group. Though she did not forge many close friendships with most of the crew, she did become romantically involved with the pilot of the Cherudim Gundam, Lyle Dylandy. The two of them kept the nature of their relationship secret until he confessed his love for her publicly over the intercom before a mission to capture an Innovator.

Unfortunately, the Innovator they captured happened to be Anew's Innovade twin, Revive Revival. As soon as he was captured by Celestial Being, he used his Quantum Brainwaves to communicate with Anew. With her help, they were both able to escape the Ptolemy unharmed and were nearly able to escape with the 00-Raiser.

Despite her feelings for Lyle, Anew was still determined to fight alongside her Innovade kin. Equipped with her own mobile suit, Gaddess, she attacked Lyle's Cherudim. The two were equally classed in battle -- until Lyle activated his mobile suit's Trans-Am. Determined to make Anew his woman again, he ripped off her mobile suit's armor with the intention of bringing her back to the Ptolemy with him.

Anew was moved by Lyle's actions and words, and began to leave her cockpit to join his side. However, before she could, Ribbons took control of her body and mind. Unable to control herself, Anew viciously attacked Lyle. The Cherudim was on the verge of being completely destroyed by Anew's Gaddess when she was fatally wounded by the 00-Raiser.

In her last moments, Anew was able to confirm her feelings for the Gundam Meister through the 00-Raiser's quantum effect. When this effect finally faded away, Anew used the last of her energy to push the Cherudim away before her mobile suit detonated. Anew was killed in the resulting explosion.

More information on Anew's background can be found here.

Reincarnated History: Celia Connors was born the only daughter of a city councilman and a lawyer. Her early life was happy and uneventful -- at least until the year Anew turned three. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and died two years later. After that, Celia's father devoted himself to raising his daughter, the last living remnant of the wife he loved.

When Celia was old enough, she was enrolled in the Starling-Chandler School for Girls. Celia's father made sure his daughter wanted for anything, though she never asked for much. Celia knew how dedicated her father was to her upbringing and didn't want to be an unnecessary burden to him. Instead, Celia drifted through her school years without making too many waves -- or many close friends, either. Though normally not one to involve herself in extracurricular activities, Celia joined Student Council her sophomore year at her father's encouragement. It was clear that he was concerned that his daughter was becoming too introverted. Celia found she was quite capable at the role, and the rest of the school apparently agreed; she was elected secretary three years running.

In her junior year of high school, Celia's father found love and a year later, the two of them were married. An only child until now, Celia found herself suddenly playing big sister to two much younger step-siblings for the first time in her life. Celia struggled with the part; she didn't know how to engage children nearly a decade younger than her. Though her step-siblings quickly latched onto their kind older sister, Celia never grew particularly attached to either one of them. This wasn't to say that she didn't love them, because she certainly did. After all, her new family made her father truly happy -- and that made her happy in return. For the first time since his late wife's death, Celia was relieved to see her father was able to stop playing the part of the dutiful and devoted father and truly enjoy his life.

Like many Starling-Chandler School graduates, Celia's grades could have placed her in virtually any university in the country. However, she opted to stay close to home and attended Locke City University, where she studied mechanical engineering. It was there that she developed her first close friendship with another mechanical engineering major, Eugen Lambert. Like Eugen, Celia graduated with honors. Shortly after graduation, she accepted a job at Prometheus, where she continues to work today.

Celia also volunteers twice weekly at the Open Arms Homeless Shelter.

First Echo: Celia's first Echo is her memory of meeting the crew of the Ptolemaios II for the very first time. Not only does she know her name from her past life, but she also knows where, exactly, she excelled. Celia receives this memory after watching the bright pink light in Vegas on the news.

Preincarnation Personality: Unlike the other Innovators, Anew Returner is unaware of her origins. Developed with female sexual organizations for the sole purpose of playing sleeper agent for Ribbon Almark, Anew was programmed with a specific base personality, but was given no history to speak of. Anew's limited background has thus influenced the way she interacts with others. Unable to draw upon past experiences to know how to react appropriately, Anew intentionally holds others at arm's length with the hope of avoiding awkward situations. Unfortunately, this happens often, as Anew doesn't pick up on social cues as quickly as she could. In short, Anew's quiet and polite persona functions an emotional barrier while simultaneously allowing her to maintain functional relationships with others.

Anew values those few people who have the drive and patience to tear down her emotional barriers, though she fails to understand why anyone would want to get to know her better. There's simply nothing very interesting about herself to speak of -- and others are so much more fascinating. Though both good-looking and capable, Anew lacks the ego and arrogance of her Innovade kin. It is Anew's lack of hubris that differentiates her from most of the other Innovades -- and it is this that allows her to fall in love and forge friendships with humans.

Anew is naturally curious, and though prone to keeping quiet in most conversations, will chime in with questions when a topic she is interested in crops up. There are few things that don't interest Anew; she's lived for such a short time that she has developed a fascination with even the simplest of things. As a result, she often comes across as naive or unworldly to others. If this bothers Anew -- or if she even notices it -- she doesn't show it. Anew is not easily bothered by the opinions of others.

Though she is quick to inquire about the things that do interest her, Anew is hesitant to approach others for advice. Embarrassed at her own lack of life experience, Anew acknowledges that in that particular arena, others have the advantage. She doesn't envy those people; if anything, she respects them. Anyone can learn from books, as she presumes she did. However, most can not claim to possess the combined accumulated worldliness of the crew of the Ptolemaios II.

Anew's personality however, changes radically when awakened as an Innovator. Though she retains all memories and experiences she had while with Celestial Being, she adopts a harsh and cold persona. There is nothing she won't do for the sake of the Innovators. However, unlike her fellow Innovades, Anew is still heavily influenced by emotions, and can still be swayed from the task at hand.

It is most fortunate then, that Ribbons Almark has equipped Anew with a remote override feature.

Any Differences: Celia is still as quiet as her preincarnation counterpart and prefers the companionship of one or two close friends to the company of many. While this hasn't changed since her days as an Innovade, the way she engages those people has. Celia's friendship with Eugen has helped Celia to become more comfortable opening up to others. She's no longer as insecure as she was in her past life and can speak candidly about her worries and troubles, if only with the people she considers her close friends.

Celia also no longer hesitates to offer advice or a few kind words to others, even those who are complete strangers. In her past life she felt uncomfortable approaching others with her own recommendations or observations and would only offer them when requested. With few life experiences to draw from, she had a hard time distinguishing when her input was appropriate, and instead, would revert to the status quo of not saying anything at all.

Unlike Anew, Celia doesn't feel out-of-place the way she did among the crew of the Ptolemy; in her previous life, she had been a newcomer to crew of tight-knit friends, all of whom had fought alongside one another for some time before her arrival. While she may not ever be the center of attention, Celia feels comfortable in her role among friends and family. That sense of comfort -- that feeling of rightness -- was something she never knew as Anew.

Abilities: While most people excel in just one or two subjects, Anew excels at many. Ian perhaps puts it best when she is first introduced to the crew of the Ptolemaios II: "She's an authority on astrophysics, mobile suit engineering, and regeneration treatment. She's skilled at ship piloting and cooking, and on top of that, she's a beauty." Anew is Celestial Being's all-purpose woman.

She is also a custom Innovade, crafted to have sex-specific "equipment"; likely her designs were based on her intended purpose as a sleeper agent for the A-Laws. Like the other Innovades, she can use Quantum Brainwaves to communicate with her Innovade twin and access Veda; Revive Renew takes advantage of their connection to harvest information on Celestial Being. Anew was also built with a remote override feature, which allows Ribbon Almark to shut her down and control her at will.

Anew is also capable of piloting her mobile suit, Gaddess. More information about her mobile suit can be found here.

Roleplay Sample - Third Person: StE | Canon.

Roleplay Sample - Network: [Her message starts off with a single dot on light purple stationery, though it's not intended to be a punctuation mark. It's simply as far as her pen got before she hesitated. For a long moment, that's all there is: a single dot where her pen hit the page. But once that moment passes, it becomes the end of the neat little curl of a perfectly-scripted 'P'. The words come out smoothly after that.]

Pleased to meet you. My name is Celia. I know this message makes it obvious, but I am one of the Numbered. After I saw the pink light flare up in Vegas, I received my first memory of a past life.

[The pencil stops again here, and a few seconds pass she scribes again.]

I have already researched a great deal online on what this means for me. However, it is difficult to distinguish fact from fiction. There is so much that is difficult to believe.

I understand that you use this network to communicate with one another. I also have no issues accessing it. Though I have yet to say very much to anyone, I have been reading and listening to your messages. None of that was difficult to understand.

However... I'm not certain what role I should play here. Though I know precisely what I did in my past life, I lack any skill or ability I may have had then.

I'm sure it was the same for many of you at first, too.

I suppose I'd like you to share your experiences with me. What did you do while you figured things out for yourself? Did you find the process difficult? I imagine it was much more challenging in the beginning than it is now.

[Another brief pause, as Celia mentally debates what else to write next.]

I appreciate any answers you might be able to provide.

Any Questions? Nope! Full Disclosure: some of this app's information was pulled from my original app to SRTMush. Her original wiki entry (with much of this information) can be found here.

Celia's relationship with Eugen has already been cleared by the other player.
